Short Bio (簡介)
Chih-Chung Hsu (許志仲) received his B.S. degree in Information Management from Ling-Tung University of Science and Technology, Taiwan, in 2004, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from National Yunlin University of Science and Technology and National Tsing Hua University in 2007 and 2014, respectively. From 2014 to 2017, he conducted postdoctoral research at the Institute of Communications Engineering at National Tsing Hua University. He then served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Management Information Systems at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology from February 2018 to 2021, and subsequently joined the Institute of Data Science at National Cheng Kung University, where he taught until 2025. Since 2025, he has been an Associate Professor in the College of Artificial Intelligence at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University. Dr. Hsu’s research primarily focuses on computer vision and machine/deep learning applications in image and video processing, encompassing topics such as DeepFake detection, super-resolution, medical image analysis, and autonomous driving vision systems. His work has been published in prestigious journals and conference proceedings including IEEE TPAMI, IEEE TIP, IEEE TMM, IEEE TGRS, ACM Multimedia, IEEE ICIP, IEEE IGARSS, and IEEE ICASSP. He has been recognized with several significant awards over the years, such as the 2nd Place at the MaCVi 2025 USV-based Embedded Obstacle Segmentation Challenge (IEEE/CVF WACV, Feb. 2025), Winner of the ICPR 2024 Competition on AI for Agriculture (Dec. 2024), 3rd Place in the DEF-AI-MIA Covid-detection Challenge at IEEE CVPR (June 2024), as well as the Jury Prize at the VIPriors Challenge on Instance Segmentation at IEEE ICCV (Oct. 2023). In addition, he received the IEEE Best Professional Member Award from the IEEE Tainan Section (Nov. 2023) and the Best Student Paper Award at IEEE ICIP (Sept. 2019). Dr. Hsu leads the Advanced Computer Vision Lab (ACVLab), where his team has secured over 20 grand challenge awards, including a notable third-place finish at the Learning to Drive Challenge at IEEE ICCV, where he was also invited as a keynote speaker.
